Panting around the convention center

across the convention center

After three long years, I found myself (again) running around the convention center

I can’t believe it is 2017 already! And with the arrival of this year, there are a couple of personal improvements I wish to do for myself. I don’t want to tag it as New Year’s resolution per se – I tend to break those. But I’ll just try my best to keep doing it!

Review: Marco Pierre White Steakhouse & Grill

marco pierre white

My husband celebrated his birthday and we ate at Marco Pierre White’s..

In our small family, my husband celebrates his birthday first. And for his birthday this year, we had his birthday lunch at Marco Pierre White’s restaurant in Dublin. To be honest, this wasn’t our first option. But because my husband’s birthday was a public holiday in Ireland – there were a few restaurants who were still closed that day.

Review: Carluccio’s at Dawson Street

carluccios

A recent trip to Carluccio’s after my son’s rugby class..

Anthony Carluccio is one of the famous celebrity chefs over here. But before relocating here, I don’t know him at all. I only got to know about his existence when my husband (then boyfriend) bought his cookbook in Melbourne so he can cook me a dish from one of his recipes.

Review: Lemon Jelly at Millennium Walkway

lemon jelly

An unexpected brunch/morning snack at Lemon Jelly..

Lemon Jelly is a very busy cafe/brunch/crepe place at Millennium Walkway – a short distance away from Jervis Luas station. Even if I frequently pass by this place, this post marks the first time I have eaten here.
I remembered when I just relocated, I used to point to this place and tell my husband “Maybe we should try to eat here sometime. It is ALWAYS busy – must be good.” But he would tell me that he ate here before and it was just “alright”. So, I never thought I’d get the chance to try it myself and see what he meant by – alright.

Making the most of the sunny Dublin weekend!

Samuel Beckett bridge

So, it’s sunny Dublin this weekend – what to do?

After a tremendous battering of wind and rain over the past two days, the weather this weekend was superb! Especially if we are to consider that it is still technically winter – to be treated to a very sunny day is something no person should miss. Even if it was so cold and chilly, it was a great chance to go out after being mostly indoors for the past months.

Christmas Package at the Powerscourt Hotel experience!

MountainViewSuite Powerscourt Hotel

After the sumptuous Christmas Eve meal at the Sika restaurant in Powerscourt Hotel..

After our fantastic Christmas Eve meal at the Sika restaurant (that I haven’t written a review yet, whoops!), we were so excited about our Mountainview Suite and looked forward to our evening of rest. We didn’t book for any babysitting arrangements and decided to stay inside our hotel room to relax after a short tour of the hotel.

Christmas 2016: Powerscourt Hotel and Estate Day 1

powerscourt

Our Christmas getaway at the Powerscourt Hotel and strolling at the Estate..

We didn’t travel internationally for this year’s Christmas. Instead, we had a staycation at one of the best hotels in Ireland – Powerscourt Hotel. The hotel is situated within very close proximity to one of Ireland’s leading tourist attractions – Powerscourt Estate.
I have been to the Estate on my first year in Ireland but this is the first time for me to stay in the hotel. So, I was really looking forward to Christmas since the hotel is operated by no less than Marriott! 🙂

Review: Catch-22

catch-22

A great seafood catch at Catch-22!

Catch-22 is a new-ish seafood joint in Dublin city center. We would’ve probably been in this place a lot more often if only they had more space or if more chairs are “child-friendly“. They do have high-chair/booster seats if you are dining with a small child but I think it is a bit flimsy especially if you were given a high table and chair.

Review: Pre-Christmas weekend at Brasserie 66

brasserie 66

On the weekend before Christmas, we had lunch at Brasserie 66

Our small family celebrated Christmas this year a bit “reserved“. After meeting with friends for one day, we were pretty much on our own. Despite that, we didn’t spend the festive holidays stuck at home. In fact, the week prior Christmas, we went to a restaurant called Brasserie 66!

Review: Brother Hubbard

Brother Hubbard

A 12-hour fasting for a routine check-up ended well. Thanks to Brother Hubbard..

Brother Hubbard is one of the famous brunch/coffee places in Dublin these days. My husband commented that the coffee industry in Dublin is rapidly growing – all thanks to these trendy coffee places and arrival of various IT companies like Google and Facebook over here.
Unfortunately, Brother Hubbard is not a place I’d consider child-friendly – so we rarely get the chance to eat here. They don’t have high chairs for toddlers not to mention the space is very little – it is hard to get in with a pram. But a few weeks ago, my husband and I left the little one with the nanny since we had a very early morning routine checkup. We were fasting for 12 hours and really hungry – so we decided to eat somewhere nice after. Continue reading “Review: Brother Hubbard” »
